A new milestone for NHCDC

Hello again,
We've been quiet for a while, because something has been cooking and we wanted to take off with a big bang. This past weekend, NHCDC reached a new and exciting milestone in its dedicated journey to enlighten and label the lives of differently abled children.
The 5th branch of New Horizons Child Development Centre and the New Horizons Audiology and Hearing Aids Centre for Adults & Children was inaugurated on Sunday by Dr. Najma Heptulla, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Minority Affairs, Government of India and other revered guests and well-wishers.

Our new centre is sophisticated and sleek, an ultra-modern design in a spacious 1,700 plus square feet space. Colourful and filled with positive energy, this new space is the ultimate culmination of the holistic child-centric multi-disciplinary integrated care that NHDCD is recognised.

In addition to the six existing departments of NHCDC (Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Remedial Education, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy and Nutrition), the highlight of the new centre is the state-of-the-art New Horizons Audiology Centre for Adults and Children. Conceived by UK-based Pediatric Audiovestibular Consultant Dr Waheeda Pagarkar, we now proudly offer the best facilities for evaluation and management of Hearing Loss and Deafness and Vestibular disorders like Dizzyness and Vertigo.

Let me take a moment to introduce you to the TEAM of 65 at NHCDC, the very team that in 2013 undertook 29,155 one-on-one sessions across Mumbai with children and parents.

They work hard and long, and strive everyday to help EVERY CHILD DO BETTER.
Well done, team and let's continue to raise the bar!

Cheers, and catch you again soon!

Audiology, and especially Vestibular disorders, in children and adults are rarely looked for and almost always missed. Welcome to New Horizons Child Development Centre

Hello and welcome,

Let me begin by saying that I am not a doctor, therapist or a person with any medical background. My only link to the medical world is that my mother is a doctor, therefore I pretty much know which medication to take when I'm sick. And if I don't, the doctor usually always takes my call. But, enough about me. This blog is about New Horizons Child Development Centre (NHCDC) and the work it does. I'm here to try and cut through the medical terms and technicalities and bring to your computer (or tablet or phone) screens a simplified version of the work undertaken at NHCDC. Bear with us, for sometimes there will be technical words, but I will try to be the voice of the layman and explain everything the best way I can. There is no fixed format to what will be posted on the blog. It will include a mix of observations of NHDCD staff, articles we write, information we find interesting to share and other useful tidbits.

I believe in the work NHCDC does. I believe it is good, honest, dedicated and necessary work in the field of childcare, and I want more people to be aware of what they bring to the table. I want you to form your own opinion by reading about what we do. If you like what you see here, please share it on your Facebook pages, blogs, Twitter accounts etc, to help spread the word of the good work done here. Please share your comments, feedback and thoughts to help us write better and constantly give you useable information.

See you again soon.
